Congregation Ner Tamid is an exciting, active, and innovative Reform synagogue community of over 500 families. We are an inclusive synagogue community that welcomes those who wish to share our commitment to Jewish life and learning through many types of Spiritual, Musical and Community programs designed to promote active participation including Tikun Olam. Congregation Ner Tamid fosters a warm, caring and inclusive environment for a diverse community, including individuals, couples and families of all types. CNT strives to provide a variety of opportunities for congregants to connect with the three pillars of Reform Judaism: Torah, Avodah, v'Gimilut, Chasadim (study, worship and acts of loving kindness).

The Executive Director of CNT participates in partnership with the Clergy, the Temple President, the Board of Trustees, and the Congregation and is responsible for embracing and executing the overall mission of the synagogue by promoting and supporting the vision and leadership necessary to bring the Temple’s mission to life.

The Executive Director is the Lead Administrator and Operational Leader of Congregation Ner Tamid. The Executive Director is responsible for providing leadership, leadership development and oversight of operations, finance, fundraising, human resources, strategic planning, and community involvement which includes outreach programs. The Executive Director has the primary responsibility of ensuring that the policies, budgets and other directives of the Board of Trustees and bylaws are implemented and enforced.
An important consideration of the Executive Director includes the responsibility of assisting our congregants in a compassionate and approachable manner that promotes program enthusiasm, congregational participation, volunteerism, and effective identification and utilization of congregational resources.

Key Responsibilities:
Administration/Operations including Office and Staff Management
 Oversees the operational needs of the congregation and ensures that clergy, senior staff
and lay leadership have the support they need to function effectively while meeting
congregants’ religious, social and community needs.
 Oversees the condition and upkeep of the physical campus including maintenance of the
main building, classrooms, Memorial Gardens, outdoor patio and theater, exterior
grounds, security, etc.
 Responsible for the hiring, training and supervision of all administrative and custodial staff.
Develops job descriptions and routinely and periodically evaluates the performance of all administrative and custodial staff. Fosters and maintains a productive and healthy working relationship and environment with staff.
 Overseas and maintains the Temple’s personnel records, work schedules, vacations, and benefits.
 Develops implements and enforces Temple contracts and policies regarding all rentals, leases, and vendors providing services.
 Develops and maintains IT infrastructure ensuring that the Temple computerized symptoms are secure, functional and cost-effective.
 Collaborates with staff, Temple President, Board of Trustees, and committees to review and oversee all health, safety and security procedures and protocols.
 Works towards developing, maintaining and promoting effective communications with the congregation through enhanced website, emails, bulletins, and all electronic communications.
 Serves as a compassionate and considerate liaison to the congregation in order to promote the Temple vision, the Temple’s image and encourages member’s active involvement, enhances member’s collaboration, and promotes congregational pride.
 Participates and networks with the Union for Reform Judaism (URJ) as well as with the National Association for Temple Administrators. (NATA) to assist the Temple with effectively benefiting from nationally recognized policies and protocols.
Financial Management
 Works and collaborates directly with the Finance Manager with regard to maintaining fiscal
integrity, facilities budget, annual budget, payroll, and security procedures.
 Collaborates with Temple President and Ways and Means VP when possible to promote effective fundraising methods and identify additional financial resources. Works towards developing and implementing effective marketing strategies. Works with VP’s of Membership to actively recruit members, promote member involvement and retain
membership.
 Responsible for collecting accounts receivables including membership dues, monetary
contributions, religious school fees, rental and leasing fees and program fees.
 Responsible for the review and management of Temple insurance programs.
 Manages and maintains the Temple’s financial information systems.
 Supervises in collaboration with Finance Director all activities of the bookkeeper including
payroll, accounts payable, and all financial reporting.

Community Relations
 Works together with Board of Trustees, Temple President, Clergy, committees and staff
members to ensure that the Temple mission and vision is being fulfilled through
programs, strategic planning and community outreach.
 Connects effectively with all Temple members in a friendly, respectful and encouraging
fashion. Functions as the Temple’s primary customer service representative.
 Cultivates prospective Temple members.
 Enhances and promotes the Temple’s image through active community involvement and
with other professionals, including civic and private organizations.

Board Relations
 Responsible for effective communication with the Board of Trustees by attending all
Board of Trustees meetings and Executive Board meetings.
 Collaborates with strategic planning to ensure that the Temple can successfully fulfill its
mission and its vision into the future with a solid financial footing.

Skills and Qualifications
 Master’s degree or Bachelor’s degree with Non-Profit managerial experience or
comparable significant business management experience in administrative and
organizational leadership.
 Has demonstrated history and experience in successful management with strong
collaborative skills and strong leadership skills.
 The candidate is self-driven, motivated, flexible, and works as a team player to
collaboratively and effectively problem-solve. The candidate should possess a high degree of integrity, honesty, enthusiasm and should possess a sense of humor which assists with the everyday atmosphere of the Temple’s operations.
 Ability to manage multiple priorities and responsibilities comprehensively.
 Has demonstrated success in managing, motivating, and developing staff in
collaboration with professional, administrative and facility staff.
 Experience with facility management, contracting for services and vendor negotiations.
 Expertise and working knowledge with Microsoft Office Suite including working
knowledge of accounting software and familiarity with database software, email
newsletters, social media, and website maintenance.
 Demonstrated ability to recruit, motivate, and organize volunteers.
 Strong and effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills appropriate and
specific to a Jewish synagogue environment.
 Clearly possess an organized, enthusiastic, creative, courteous and discrete working
personality.
 Availability to attend key congregational meetings and programs locally or regionally.
 Knowledge and understanding of the Reform Jewish movement, culture and rituals as
well as a commitment to promote Reform Jewish values.
